About us

We purchased our farmhouse on country acreage just east of Sarasota in 2015 and have spent the years since thoughtfully restoring it. Our favorite place is the upstairs school room, tucked beneath the roofline. Its sloped ceilings, wood floors, and built-in bookcases create a cozy, welcoming space that has witnessed years of reading, lively discussion, discovery, and growth. It is a joy to now open this room to other families and we look forward to sharing it with the students of The Attic Academy.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Sociology. I began pursuing graduate studies in secondary education when our children were small and realized the modern philosophy of education did not align with my own. Since then, teaching middle school at a local private Christian school, homeschooling my own children upwards of twelve years, and serving as a director within a classical co-op have served to refine and strengthen my commitment to a rich, classically influenced, home-centered education—one that nurtures wonder, seeks truth, delights in beauty, and recognizes that all true education finds its purpose and fulfillment in God.

A rare Sarasota native, my husband has been an arborist and small business owner in the greater Sarasota area for over twenty years. Our son graduated from our homeschool academy, is a certified EMT, and will begin fire school in the fall of 2026. Still active in our homeschool academy, our upper school aged daughter loves horseback riding. We love reading, caring for our assortment of farm animals, worshipping at our Orthodox Presbyterian church in Bradenton, Florida, and enjoying time with friends and family.
